After arriving in Kumai, we can go straight to the klotok and we will introduce you to the klotok crew who will accompany and serve you during the trip. When everything is ready, we can start the journey to Tanjung Puting National Park. Along the way, it is very possible for you to see several animals such as several species of birds, monkeys, and very possibly wild Orangutans along the river path to the first camp (Tanjung Harapan). After arriving at the first camp, we can immediately trek for about 25 minutes to see the orangutan feeding at 2 pm. There you can see around 5 to 15 orangutans. After that we return to the klotok and continue the journey on the river to see monkeys, proboscis monkeys which are very easy to find in the trees around the river and at night we will take you to do night trekking to see and look for various kinds of nocturnal animals such as tarantulas and others.
You can wake up early in the morning to enjoy and listen to the sounds of animals such as birds, monkeys, or large male orangutans, while enjoying coffee/tea on the kelotok. You can continue the journey to camp 2 (Pondok Tanggui) and do a trek of approximately 25 minutes to see the orangutan feeding at 09.00 am. After seeing the orangutan feeding at camp 2, we can continue the journey to camp 3. Camp 3, which we call Camp Leakey, to see the orangutan feeding at 2 pm. Camp Leakey is the last camp that has clean black water above the Sekonyer River. There are many crocodiles and we can also find many orangutans and other animals such as wild boars and langurs. There is an Information Center that is usually open from 12:30 to 02:00 pm. After that, we will invite you to visit the Leakey feeding camp to see the orangutan feeding. After being satisfied with seeing the orangutan feeding, we will invite you back to the klotok and find a place for the klotok to rest to spend the night in the nipah forest area of the Sekonyer River.
After breakfast, we’ll take you on a forest trekking at Tanjung Harapan Camp. This trek lasts about 4 hours and takes you deep into the Tanjung Puting Forest. Along the trail, you’ll see various types of plants. Upon reaching the headwaters of the river, the crew will pick you up in a small canoe, and we’ll travel up a tributary to return to the klotok. In the afternoon, we’ll invite you to participate in a tree-planting activity at the Tanjung Harapan camp.
Breakfast will be served back on the kelotok, kicking off the final day of your trip. Your itinerary for today will be specifically tailored to your flight/return schedule from Tanjung Puting National Park. We prioritize flexibility in every trip, so we recommend communicating with our tour guide and crew. Upon arrival at Kumai Harbor, it's time to say goodbye to your crew.
